Celebrating Two Years of Service: Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai Marks His Second Anniversary as Kachallan Kano
On June 26th, 2023, Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, mni, FPSN was formally invested with the prestigious title of Kachallan Kano, a revered position within the Kano Emirate that signifies a deep responsibility to protect and promote the cultural heritage and wellbeing of the people of Kano.
Now, two years on, Kachallan Kano, Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai reflects on a journey shaped by service, tradition, and purpose. Marking this significant milestone, he expressed profound gratitude to His Highness Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, CON, CNOL, JP, to the Emirate Council, to his community, and above all, to Almighty Allah for the strength to uphold the noble responsibilities that come with the title.
“This role is a sacred trust,” said Kachallan Kano, Pharm. Yakasai. “It is about living with dignity, serving with integrity, and always striving to be a bridge between our proud heritage and the promise of tomorrow.”
In honour of his late mother, Hajiya Asma’u Ibrahim Yakasai, Kachallan Kano, Pharm. Ahmed Yakasai recently completed the construction of a school offering Primary, Secondary, and Adult Education for married women—a project rooted in love, legacy, and community development. This follows a similar tribute ten years earlier, when he built a school in memory of his late father, Alhaji (Mallam) Ibrahim Yunusa Yakasai.
“Alhamdulillah,” he stated, “this school is a continuation of my family’s commitment to education and empowerment, and a personal tribute to the values instilled in me by my parents.”
In recognition of his continued impact, Professor Lere Baale, President of the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, extended warm congratulations on behalf of the Academy:
“Your elevation as Kachallan Kano continues to inspire many within and beyond the pharmaceutical profession. You embody the values of integrity, wisdom, humility, and purpose-driven leadership. As you mark this anniversary, we celebrate your legacy of excellence and pray for your continued strength and grace.”
As both a traditional titleholder and a national figure in pharmacy and public service, Kachallan Kano, Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai remains a unifying presence—dedicated to the progress of the Emirate, the upliftment of his people, and the advancement of health and education across Nigeria.
In his own words, “May the years ahead bring peace, unity, and prosperity to our people. Allah ya kara daukaka Kano, ya karawa Sarki Aminu Ado Bayero imani, kuma yaja zamanin Sarki. Allah ya bamu lafiya da zaman lafiya.”
As he celebrates two years as Kachallan Kano, Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai continues to serve with humility and vision, honouring the past while building for the future.
